Pre-AP* Science Inquiry Workshop
Infusing Inquiry in the Pre AP Science Classroom
The course is now full. We are accepting registrations for the wait list.
June 25-28, 2012
The College Board is currently in the process of redesigning its AP science courses in order to focus more on inquiry-based learning. Inquiry-based science focuses on open-ended questions, requires students to produce and evaluate scientific data, and more accurately reflects the practice of science in the “real world.” This four-day “conference style" workshop is designed to train Pre-AP middle and high school science teachers on how best to incorporate inquiry-based teaching techniques into their curriculum. Participants will analyze the differences between traditional and inquiry-based instruction, examine instructional materials to determine whether they promote scientific inquiry and learn how to modify activities to include more inquiry-based strategies.
