See College Readiness Summit Highlights
This one-day conference is designed to build awareness within the Houston education community about the essential skills needed to prepare students to be successful in college. Participants will obtain valuable information on how to close equity and achievement gaps, the importance of mentorship and leadership, and proven college readiness strategies. Education policy experts, internationally acclaimed college readiness organizations and instructional leaders will provide insightful and informative presentations to support the formation of college ready campuses throughout the Houston area.
Who should attend: Administrators, counselors, teachers and parents.
When and where: Tuesday, December 10, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., on the Rice University campus, Houston, Texas.
Check-in and orientation: Registrants should check in from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the Rice Memorial Center (RMC). Opening remarks will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.
Parking: Central Campus Garage, underneath McNair Hall. Attendees should inform the Central Garage attendant they are registered for a Continuing Studies event for complementary parking. Those who park elsewhere must insert a credit card and request validation from Summit staff at Registration. Location details can be found on the campus map.
Tuition: $150 by November 2; $175 after November 2 (includes parking, lunch and materials).
Registration: Download Registration Form. Limited space is available. Register early to ensure your spot. Only completed forms accompanied by check, credit card information or copy of a purchase order or direct pay form are accepted for registration. Acknowledgment of enrollment: Once your completed enrollment is received, you will either be enrolled in the conference or placed on a waiting list if the conference has filled. In either case, you will receive written notification from Rice at your home address within 15 days of receipt of your registration. Please contact our office, 713-348-6031, if you do not receive notification from us. You may need to check with your school or district administrative office to ensure the registration was sent.
Conference cancellation policy: Events such as insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, room conflicts or inclement weather may require a schedule adjustment or cancellation. We will notify registrants of any change in the published information.
Refunds: Full refunds for conference tuition will be issued for cancellations received via email or fax by November 2. Checks submitted to Rice University for payment may be converted into an electronic funds transfer from your account. There is a $30 charge for all checks returned for insufficient funds.
Special Needs: Most classrooms are accessible for all participants. However, some classrooms in older buildings may be inaccessible for people who use wheelchairs and/or other aids for mobility. Please notify us of any accommodations you require so that arrangements can be made to assist you (call 713-348-6031 or email email@example.com). We would appreciate at least two weeks’ notice. Airport transportation: Transportation to and from the airport can be arranged through Super Shuttle at www.supershuttle.com or (800) BLUE-VAN (258-3826). Prices range from $19 one-way from Hobby Airport to $24 one-way from Bush Intercontinental Airport.
