Teachers
Since 1994, the Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing
Studies at Rice University has provided exemplary workshops and resources for
teachers. Rice’s teacher professional development workshops have provided
teachers with content knowledge and effective teaching strategies to address
the learning needs of students in grades 6-12 including, but not limited to,
Pre-AP, AP and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. Rice is the only
institution in the country endorsed by both IBA and the College Board to
provide training programs for both IB and AP teachers.
College Readiness
Resources – An abundance of resources are available to help advance college
readiness in the classroom.
Advanced Placement
–The Advanced Placement curriculum provides a level of rigor that prepares
students for post-secondary success.
Training opportunities for Pre-Advanced Placement and Advanced Placement
teachers are offered throughout the year on the Rice University campus.
International Baccalaureate - The International Baccalaureate curriculum focuses on critical
thinking and infusing an international outlook into all subject areas. A variety of training options are offered
throughout the year for International Baccalaureate teachers on the Rice University
campus.
Global EducationCertificate - The Global Education Certificate program is a two-semester,
Web-based program designed to provide participants with a broad field of study
that explores the urgent need for global education in schools.
College Readiness
Summit - This one-day conference is designed to build awareness within the
Texas education community about the essential skills needed to prepare students
to be successful in college.
Essential Skills in
World Geography - This four day workshop is designed to assist 9th grade
world geography teachers with the implementation of more rigorous course
standards.
Fundamentals In World History - This one day course will equip World History teachers with the necessary
tools to prepare their students for the implementation of more rigorous course
standards.
